Samsung Knox Rolls Out Private Sharing for Quick Share and Enhanced Data Protection Features

Samsung introduced new features for Knox – the security management software for its devices – on Wednesday. One of the new features claims to make sharing files such as photos, videos and documents more secure by adding various permissions and expiration dates for the data. The other added feature enables end-to-end encryption in system backups created for the handset. Both these solutions are in-built proprietary offerings from Samsung, without requiring the installation of any third-party apps.

Private Sharing on Samsung Knox

In a blog post titled “The Knox Journals”, Samsung detailed the new features coming to Knox for Galaxy devices. The first addition is Private Sharing in Quick Share. The South Korean technology conglomerate says it is a privacy-preserving file-sharing feature that enables the transfer of files between users securely.

Data shared via Private Sharing is said to be only accessible to the recipient. Users can also add an extra layer of security by setting an automatic timer for the files' visibility or choosing contacts who can open it. Furthermore, additional restrictions, such as prohibiting screenshots, read-only access and revoking access at any time, can also be enabled. Samsung says users can share up to 20 files at once with a total size of up to 200MB.

To use Private Sharing, Galaxy users must choose the file they wish to share and tap on the Quick Share option. Next, they should tap on the three dots at the top-right corner of the screen, followed by the Turn on Private Sharing option.

Enhanced Data Protection

According to Samsung, the Galaxy S24 and newer models can take advantage of the Enhanced Data Protection feature whenever they sync or backup their data with Samsung Cloud on Galaxy devices. It is said to offer end-to-end encryption for the backed-up data. As per the company, the data stays secure even if the account credentials are stolen or the server is compromised.

When first enabled, users will be required to note down a recovery code that will come in handy if they lose their device. Samsung says the end-to-end encrypted data cannot be accessed by anyone, including the company itself.

Bitcoin Value Drops as the US Moves Silk Road-Related Tokens, Altcoins Reflect Mixed Prices

Bitcoin, that was trading at $69,535 (roughly Rs. 58 lakh) at the start of this week, has dropped notably. The asset incurred a loss of over two percent in the last 24 hours on international exchanges like CoinMarketCap. With this, the price of BTC has fallen to $65,625.38 (roughly RS. 54.9 lakh) on global exchanges. Meanwhile, on Indian exchanges, BTC value tumbled by around one percent bringing its price within the range of $66,090 (roughly Rs. 55.3 lakh) and $70,230 (roughly Rs 58.8 lakh).

“BTC is under pressure after the US government moved Bitcoin tokens linked to Silk Road. A decisive move above the $66,500 (roughly Rs. 55.6 lakh) resistance could drive the price higher in the coming sessions. However, if Bitcoin fails to break past this resistance, it may decline further,” Mudrex CEO Edul Patel told Gadgets360. The US government has reportedly moved BTC tokens worth $2 billion (roughly Rs. 16,746 crore) linked to the now defunct dark web marketplace Silk Road.

Ether saw a price dip of 1.28 percent in the last 24 hours. On international exchanges, ETH is trading at the price point of $3,272 (roughly Rs. 2.73 lakh) whereas in India, the price of ETH stands at $3,482 (roughly Rs 2.91 lakh).

With Grayscale's ETF having a net $120 million (roughly Rs. 1,004 crore) outflows in the day, ETH also traded lower below the $3,300 (roughly Rs. 2.76 lakh) mark. Ethereum however has a major support around the $2,800 (roughly Rs. 2.34 lakh) mark even if the downtrend continues,” CoinSwitch markets desk told Gadgets360.

Tether, USD Coin, Dogecoin, Cardano, Shiba Inu, and Polkadot -- joined BTC and ETH in reflecting losses.

Meanwhile, Binance Coin, Solana, Ripple, Chainlink, Near Protocol, Litecoin, and Leo made some profits.

The overall crypto market cap dipped by nearly one percent in the last 24 hours to claim the capitalisation of $2.37 trillion (roughly Rs. 1,94,27,517 crore1,94,27,517 crore), showed CoinMarketCap

“As we navigate these turbulent times, it's crucial for investors to stay informed and approach the market with a balanced perspective,” Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder of Pi42 told Gadgets360.

Google’s Project Green Light Leverages AI to Tackle Traffic Congestion and Reduce Emissions

Google Research is running a project that aims to mitigate the time one spends at the traffic light, especially at city intersections. The initiative, dubbed ‘Project Green Light', is said to harness traffic engineering, coupled with artificial intelligence (AI), to improve the flow of traffic, tackle congestion and reduce fuel consumption – efforts aimed at expediting climate mitigation. Backed by information provided by Google Maps, the project is currently running in several cities globally.

What is Google's Project Green Light?

In a blog post, Google revealed that Project Green Light has been developed by its team at Google Research as a sustainability initiative. It is built to tackle road transportation, which is said to be a major contributor to global greenhouse emissions, especially in stop-and-go traffic. The project is backed by a dedicated AI model created by the company's researchers based on the driving trends provided by Google Maps.

The team working on the project claimed that while avoiding stop-and-go traffic isn't completely viable, cities have the option of reducing it in two ways: installing expensive hardware or enabling manual vehicle counts. However, none of them are capable of providing complete information on certain parameters, as per Google.

This is where Project Green Light comes in. It is claimed to help city traffic engineers improve traffic flow by modelling traffic patterns and then providing recommendations via a comprehensive dashboard. It is said to identify possible improvements, like shaving several seconds off a stop light during hours when traffic is minimal or coordinating between unsynced intersections. While several ideas were explored, this initiative was chosen due to its “simplicity, scalability and potential for impact.”

Google claims this project can reduce stop-and-go traffic by up to 30 percent, while also reducing emissions at intersections by up to 10 percent.

How It Works

Project Green Light works by inferring traffic light parameters including cycle length, transition time, green split, and sensor operation, according to Google. A model is then created to understand the traffic patterns, such as average wait times, stop-and-go times and how the light changes throughout the day.

After analysing these parameters, the AI model then identifies possible improvements and adjustments that can be made. The actionable recommendations are passed on to the city officials after which traffic engineers can review them. Google Research says its suggestions can be implemented using existing infrastructure in as little as 5 minutes.

The team then monitors the time drivers have saved at stop lights. It calculates the impact on climate courtesy of these changes using industry standards models and shares the report with the partnering city.

Google says Project Green Light is available in over 12 cities around the world, including Bengaluru, Boston, Rio de Janeiro, and Seattle. It is claimed to be reducing fuel consumption and emissions for up to 30 million car rides per month.

Tissot T-Touch Connect Sport Review: Touch and Go

Tissot's T-Touch technology has been around since 1999 when the brand first introduced its first “smartwatch”, simply called the Tissot T-Touch. The watch introduced a unique way to interact and use the various digital functions of the watch, which included a thermometer, barometer and a compass (to name a few), and it accomplished this touch functionality using a sapphire crystal (the glass above the dial) which was as good as reinventing the wheel back in 1999. In the world of traditional timepieces, Tissot is known mainly for its quartz and automatic movements. So, the T-Touch stood out as a very unique offering from a traditional Swiss watch brand with a modern twist.

Today, touch screens on watches are very common, and even the cheapest smartwatches have them. These touch screens are perfectly usable and can detect swipes and other modern-day gestures to access all the apps and menus. Top tech brands like Apple and Samsung also use Sapphire crystal to protect their digital displays (albeit only in high-end models).

While this kind of downgrades Tissot's T-Touch-based touch screen technology (which was built differently), Tissot decided to add some new activity tracking features to its quartz-powered T-Touch line-up, and all of this now culminates into its latest T-Touch Connect Sport. The T-Touch Connect Sport is interesting in many ways, even without its modern-day smartwatch functions, and this turns the watch into a modern-day T-Touch implementation to take on modern-day smartwatches. But does it even need to? Read on to find out!

Tissot Connect Sport Review Design and Specifications: A unique blend of new and old

  • Case size - 43mm
  • Case material - titanium, ceramic
  • Durability - 5 bar (50m)

Many entry-level and budget smartwatches are attempting to ape those from premium technology brands like Samsung and Apple. And while Samsung and Apple's smartwatch designs do stand out, these will eventually be copied by some local brand at some point. So, for those looking for something unique in terms of design, there's a good reason some will find the Tissot T-Touch Connect Sport Solar to be an attractive option.

tissot ttouch connect sport side titanium case software gadgets 360 TissotTTouchConnectSport Tissot

Our review unit of the Tissot T-Touch Connect Sport has a titanium case with a natural finish

Its sporty design surely stands out from the crowd with its hybrid watch layout, which includes regular rotating watch hands placed on a dial with a small capsule-shaped display for accessing advanced functions. This display is always turned off, so the T-Touch Connect Sport will end up looking like a regular timepiece until the display lights up when a notification drops.

The watch is available from Rs. 97,000 for the base model with silicone straps and a natural finish case. The models with colour-matched cases are priced at Rs. 1,04,000, while the colour-matched metal bracelet model is priced at Rs. 1,08,500 in India.

Tissot justifies that price tag, given that you get a very premium hypoallergenic titanium 43mm case that is also anti-magnetic. Its numbered bezel is made of ceramic, and the tactile display is sapphire crystal. Tissot claims the watch is water resistant up to a pressure of 5 bar (50m), which is more than sufficient for most urban use cases.

The Tissot T-Touch Connect Sport has two pushers on the right side

The watch appears like a chronograph but will confuse a few people around you given that it has two pushers but lacks the regular crown for time adjustment and also lacks the sub-dials for the expected chrono bits.

The silicone strap can be replaced with a metal bracelet or any other third-party quick-release strap of your choosing. Given the slits in the silicon strap, it is supremely comfortable for regular use and breathable when you are sweating it out during a workout or sporting activity.

The two pushers on the right side are not customisable and have set functions to aid the Sw-ALPS software, which runs the watch. What I like about them is that they have deep travel when pressed, unlike most smartwatches I have used to date, which, in my opinion, gives it a very premium feel.

The silicone strap is very comfortable for daily use but can be replaced with other straps

There's very little to not like in the design department, indeed, but I wished that this watch was also available in a slightly bigger 46-47mm case size.

Tissot Connect Sport Review Display: Small is never better

  • Display type - AMOLED
  • Protection - Sapphire crystal

The T-Touch Connect Sport display is the size of a medicinal capsule and is visible in all possible lighting conditions. Given that the rest of the dial is taken up by the photovoltaic cells (dark brown), it is possible to identify the tiny display in the dial, which wakes up upon pressing either pusher. When the display wakes up, all the hands move out of the way to ensure that the display is always readable.

It goes to sleep automatically after 30 seconds, or you can cover the display with your hand to switch back to viewing the time. The interesting part here is the time-keeping, as the minute hand perfectly catches up to the exact second, which is supposed to continue after you are done using the display.

tissot ttouch connect sport front display gadgets 360 TissotTTouchConnectSport Tissot

The Tissot T-Touch Connect's display is tiny, measuring just two centimetres across and surrounded by the solar cell array on the dial.

I manually counted the lost seconds several times after activating the display, and the minute hand always perfectly aligned itself with the exact second on the dial after deactivating the display. Indeed, this is one of the finer details enthusiasts will appreciate about the T-Touch Connect Sport.

Tissot Connect Sport Review Software and Companion App: Confusingly minimalist

  • Companion app platforms - Android, iOS, Harmony OS
  • Watch Software - Swiss Low Power Operating System

The older T-Touch Connect Solar simply had the markings for each primary function (meteo, activity, navigation, time etc.) marked on the bezel. One would simply need to touch that marked area on the bezel to get into that function, with further adjustments or scrolling possible using the crown.

Unlike the previous generation, T-Touch Connect Solar (2022), the revival of the T-Touch series sadly misses out on the very intuitive (and fun) touch technology. It goes with basic smartwatch-like gestures that use swipes and taps to get to and activate various functions.

Upon waking up on the display, you are greeted with the date and day with the step counter on the side, basically your home screen or main watch face/screen. Swiping up from here (scrolls downwards) lets you browse through widgets related to your daily goal (step count, calories burned, time spent walking, distance). One can even change the daily goal on the watch itself by swiping to the last selection, which has predefined and custom targets.

tissot ttouch connect sport front navigation software gadgets 360 TissotTTouchConnectSport Tissot

Left to right: Main watch face, swipe up (activity modes), swipe down (goals), swipe right (notifications/toggles), swipe left (watch functions)

Swiping downwards takes you to the exercise modes (running, workouts, cycling, hiking). Swiping to the right gets one access to notifications and various capsule-shaped toggles (Bluetooth, Sound, Vibration, etc.), while swiping to the left lets you access watch functions, like timer, alarms, Chrono and even the solar charging indicator.

The good part about the swipe gestures is that the sapphire crystal face only understands a single swipe (up, down, left or right) gesture, a hold gesture and a tap (to select items). If you are not into swiping (or have never used a smartwatch before), you can also use the pushers where the top pusher swipes left (also to enter a mode or start function), and the bottom pusher swipes right (also to go back or end an activity) for browsing through this minimal yet colourful interface. And if you don't want to fidget with the display, you can simply control or activate all of this (and more) from the companion app.

tissot ttouch connect sport front app gadgets 360 TissotTTouchConnectSport Tissot

Tissot's T-Connect app is well-designed and makes it easy to set the watch

The problems with this minimalist interface begin whenever you attempt to multi-task. Setting something as simple as a timer requires a number of button presses and taps and swipes, by which time a minute will have easily passed since you attempted to set it. And if a notification drops in the process of setting a timer, you are out of luck as you have to restart whatever you were up to once the notification has cleared once again.

Because the hands have to move out of the way when using the display, the time is never visible when doing the same. So, if you want to check how much time is left on the timer (in the display), you have to wake up the watch (by pressing a button), the hands move out of the way and only then can you view it for 30 seconds, beyond which the display switches off and the hands move back to their respective positions on the dial indicating the current time.

tissot ttouch connect sport back sensors gadgets 360 TissotTTouchConnectSport Tissot

The case back has all the necessary sensors, which are mainly used for heart rate monitoring, but only during an activity

While I was expecting the worst (keeping in mind that Tissot is a traditional Swiss watchmaker), the T-Connect companion app was surprisingly spartan and easy to use. Given that the watch is not overwhelmed with features and functions like most smartwatches we are used to, the app's layout also remains simple. There's a dashboard tab, which can be edited to reveal activity statistics or functions of your choice, which appears in the form of neatly laid out card-like widgets.

Daily Steps is the second tab, which simply shows the step count, while the Activity tab shows all the activities attempted while wearing the watch. The last tab, called More, shows your editable profile data, the ability to add or remove a watch, permissions and more. It was very easy to set up the watch (on Android smartphones or iPhones), given that it also has no BT calling feature.

Depending on the platform, the app can connect and plug into ecosystem health services, like Apple Health (on iPhones). For those who don't like to fidget with their watches, it is also possible to set up timezones, alarms, etc, from the app itself.

tissot ttouch connect sport front notifications software gadgets 360 TissotTTouchConnectSport Tissot

Notifications are displayed in full (supports emojis) and can be cleared individually as well

A good companion app is the need of the hour, as the Sw-ALPS interface on the watch's capsule-sized display can get tricky if you aren't paying attention. As you can tell from the above sections, I have been using the term “function” because the Sw-ALPS interface cannot run/support any apps. Like a regular watch, all of these features are basically button-activated advanced functions on the watch.

Since the watch basically functions as a notifier, it can display entire messages or notifications (along with emojis) in that tiny display. You can clear each notification individually or all at once as well. Calls can also be answered or rejected via the watch, but will obviously need Bluetooth earphones connected to the smartphone to accomplish the same. The watch also has an auto-sleep mode, which turns off notifications and activates automatically around bedtime. The only catch is that you manually have to wake up the watch from sleep mode, or you will miss out on all the notifications.

Tissot Connect Sport Review Performance: It just works

  • Sensors - Heart rate monitor, accelerometer
  • GPS - No (via smartphone)
  • Storage - No

During the testing period, I have mainly used the watch for walks. It does a very accurate job of counting steps and giving live updates once you have activated the activity. There is a very limited selection of activities to choose from (mentioned in the previous section), so this is clearly not a watch meant for fitness fanatics who need very advanced or detailed metrics from their workouts.

The watch does not even have a built-in GPS, which means you have to have your smartphone around whenever you are working out or going for a jog, which can get cumbersome. One also cannot change music tracks when working out, which is a feature even the most basic fitness bands have today. In short, users will use this watch mainly when walking, running, cycling or hiking as it can track these well.

tissot ttouch connect sport front solar battery charging gadgets 360 TissotTTouchConnectSport Tissot

The Tissot T-Touch Connect Sport can be charged using the solar cells embedded into its dial

Other missing features commonly found on other smartwatches at this price point include continuous heart rate monitoring, SpO2 monitoring, sleep tracking, BMI measurements, and ECG readings. So, as one can tell, this watch isn't going to make it to the wrists of the fitness-friendly or conscious audience.

Tissot Connect Sport Review Battery: Impressive

  • Battery capacity - 110mAh
  • Charging adapter - Magnetic (2-pin)

And that brings us to battery life. Indeed, the requirements of such a watch will be very minimal, so the T-Touch Connect Sport uses a Renata ICP371427SPC (rechargeable battery) to drive the quartz movement and store power from the solar dial. While such a battery would be a bit too tiny for a smartwatch, it is more than sufficient for the Connect Sport, given that it has no auto-health monitoring features and only uses its heart-rate sensors during an activity.

tissot ttouch connect sport front time zones gadgets 360 TissotTTouchConnectSport Tissot

With battery life claimed to last 6 months on a single charge, the Connect Sport should easily last a trip around the world

With the above in mind, the watch is rated to last 6 months in connected mode, which is great for a smartwatch (if you can still call it that). However, to accomplish this, the watch will need to be kept under direct sunlight for 35 minutes a day when in connected mode. But even in the gloomy monsoon weather in Mumbai, I managed to barely drain 20 percent of the watch's battery during the month-long review period, meaning that it does live up to its claims indeed.

Tissot T-Touch Connect Sport Verdict

Leaving behind its traditional T-Touch style bezel-based touch interface from the previous model. The new T-Touch Connect Sport is an interesting direction for a modern-day connected smartwatch. It's not as fun as the 47mm Connect Solar to interact with, but it's still a very unique offering from Tissot in the world of notifier-style hybrid connected timepieces. So, despite losing a ton of features (and reduced dependence on a smartphone) from the previous model, it is still an elegant offering in the world of both smartwatches and regular watches as it attempts to merge the two.

But all of this comes at the cost of not being as fun (or intuitive) in terms of operation as its predecessor (which is still on sale in many countries at the same price) and not being anywhere close to what most smartwatches at this price point offer in 2024 in terms of features. For now, this gentleman's smartwatch will face stiff competition from both smartwatch brands and regular timepieces as it falls properly short in both worlds. In this category of premium hybrid notifiers, one can also consider the recently launched Withings ScanWatch Nova, which offers a plethora of health monitoring and activity monitoring features, a 30-day battery life and looks like a dress watch when you need it too. It is priced at Rs. 49,999 in India.

Poco M6 Plus 5G, Poco Buds X1 Retail Boxes Leak Online; Key Specifications Tipped

Poco M6 Plus 5G and Poco Buds X1 are scheduled to launch in India on August 1. The company has teased the design and key features of both the smartphone and the true wireless stereo (TWS) earphones. Previous reports have also hinted at expected features of the handset, which is speculated to be a rebranded Redmi 13 5G. Now, alleged retail boxes of the devices have leaked online suggesting the design of the phone as well as the TWS earphones including their charging case.

Poco M6 Plus 5G, Poco Buds X1 Retail Boxes Leak

Tipster Yogesh Brar leaked the retail box images of the devices in a post on X. The Poco M6 Plus 5G appears in a blue colourway. Notably, the phone has already been confirmed to come in a Graphite Black shade and teased in a third purple option. The layout of the rear camera module appears to be similar to the Redmi 13 5G, with two circular camera units arranged vertically in the top left corner alongside an LED flash unit.

Meanwhile, the Poco Buds X1 are seen in a white colourway, with a yellow shade inside the magnetic charging case. The earbuds are placed vertically within the case which suggests that the charging points are placed at the bottom of the stem of each earbud. A thin strip of LED panel also appears on the case which is likely to indicate the battery and charging levels of the earphones.

Poco M6 Plus 5G Features (Expected)

The tipster adds in his post that the Poco M6 Plus 5G will likely sport a 6.8-inch LCD screen and carry a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 AE (accelerated edition) SoC, which the company has already confirmed. Notably, this is the same chipset that the Redmi 13 5G carries.

Poco M6 Plus 5G is expected to be backed by a 5,030mAh battery. The company has teased that it will be equipped with a dual rear camera unit, including a 108-megapixel main sensor with 3x in-sensor zoom support. These features back the speculation that the phone could be a rebranded Redmi 13 5G.

WazirX Wallet Hack: Liminal Denies Responsibility Amid Recent Allegations

The recent hack of a WazirX wallet under Liminal Custody's oversight has resulted in a loss of over $230 million, significantly impacting India's crypto activities. In a statement to Gadgets360, Liminal denied WazirX's allegations that the breach was due to a failure in Liminal's screening system. Over the weekend, Liminal stated that its forensic investigation has found no evidence attributing responsibility for the attack to its systems.

Liminal Custody's Statement

Liminal, drawing insights from its internal investigations, has emphasized that the sophisticated attack appears to have originated from an external source, rather than from within its systems.

“Our initial assessment indicates that Liminal's platform, infrastructure, wallets, and assets remain secure. We reiterate that our platform continues to operate seamlessly and has been processing transfers and withdrawals for all our customers. It securely protects all assets including significant funds that continue to remain held on our infrastructure by the impacted customer (WazirX), as well,” the company spokesperson told Gadgets360.

“This underscores the crucial need for comprehensive security measures across platforms,” the spokesperson added.

WazirX's Allegations Against Liminal

In a blog update published last week, WazirX alleged that Liminal could not prevent the withdrawal of funds because its multi-party computation (MPC) wallet and firewall security provision failed to screen non-whitelisted addresses.

The Mumbai-headquartered exchange went on to add that the flow of transaction to the hacker's wallet was facilitated through a breach of Liminal's infrastructure. Citing results of its own internal investigation, WazirX has claimed that no malicious malware or compromise was identified on its own systems.

The situation is unfolding dramatically as WazirX and Liminal find themselves in a standoff, each party disputing the other's claims. WazirX customers, meanwhile, continue to hope for the exchange to restart services on its platform soon as the market is currently under a bull run and the suspension of trading and withdrawal services on WazirX are causing them more financial losses.

WazirX partnered with Liminal Custody in January 2023 to manage its wallets. Presently, both parties alongside several members of the crypto community are joining in efforts to try and recover the stolen funds.

The trading, withdrawal, and deposit services on WazirX continue to be on hold. While the industry analysts suspect North Korea's infamous Lazarus Group is behind this hack, confirmation on the same remains awaited.

Nothing Phone 2a Plus Specifications Leak Ahead of July 31 Launch Date

Nothing Phone 2a Plus is set to launch in global markets — including India — in the coming days and the UK startup led by former OnePlus CEO and Co-Founder Carl Pei has already revealed some details related to the smartphone ahead of its debut. A new leak has revealed some the key specifications and memory variants of the Nothing Phone 2a Plus, revealing the upgrades it will bring over the standard Phone 2a model that was launched earlier this year.

Nothing Phone 2a Plus Specifications (Leaked)

The latest leak related to the Nothing Phone 2a Plus specifications comes via Smartprix, and it appears that the upcoming handset will arrive with three notable hardware changes over the standard model. The Nothing Phone 2a Plus will be equipped with a 50-megapixel selfie camera, which — at least on paper — is an upgrade over the 32-megapixel camera on the Nothing Phone 2a, while the 50-megapixel dual rear camera setup will remain unchanged.

The publication also claims that the Nothing Phone 2a Plus will arrive with the same 5,000mAh battery, but a slightly faster charging speed. The Nothing Phone 2a can be charged using a 45W charger, but the Plus model will reportedly support slightly faster charging at 50W.

Meanwhile, the Nothing Phone 2a Plus is expected to arrive with the same 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, and under-display fingerprint sensor as the Phone 2a, along with support for features like NFC connectivity.

The company has already confirmed that the upcoming Nothing Phone 2a Plus will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7350 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM. It will be available in 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB RAM and storage configurations in Black and Grey colourways, according to the report.

Elon Musk’s X Gives Users Chance to Keep Posts From Grok AI Chatbot

Elon Musk's X has given users a way to prevent their posts and interactions from helping train his artificial intelligence chatbot Grok.

Settings for X users default to allow their data to be provided to the chatbot. But, “all X users have the ability to control whether their public posts can be used to train Grok, the AI search assistant,” the company wrote Friday in a post on X. “This setting is available on the web platform and will soon be rolled out on mobile.”

The company added that users also can prevent their information from being ingested by the chatbot by making their accounts private.

Grok, an AI chatbot currently available to premium subscribers on X, was first released last November as a rival to OpenAI's ChatGPT. The chatbot is part of artificial intelligence startup xAI, which Musk also owns, and has been trained on X data.

Musk has been vocal about using data from X to train Grok. The AI chatbot has already been using X posts to summarize news events and answer questions with real-time information.

Representatives from X had no further comment.

Bloody Ishq Review: Vikram Bhatt Sets a New Low for Indian Horror Cinema

Horror isn't a strong suit for Indian filmmakers, with overly dramatic camera angles, cheap jump scares, and cringe writing dominating the genre, but Vikram Bhatt's latest horror thriller, Bloody Ishq, somehow manages to stoop further. The film has all the trademarks of a poor horror flick, plus very shoddy CGI overused beyond reason. Bhatt has utilised visual effects not just to portray ghouls and possessed humans, but even for seemingly simple and routine shots. Bloody Ishq's lackluster VFX ends up working against the film, breaking all possible tension and taking the thrills out of the horror thriller.

While I didn't have high hopes from the movie to deliver the scares effectively, I did not expect it to be the intolerable visual nightmare that it turned out to be, especially since Bhatt has in the past delivered decent films from the horror genre.

story 1 bloody ishq

Bloody Ishq's pacing is torturous, with long stretches of boring exposition

Bloody Ishq starts with Avika Gor's character drowning in the ocean, with her fate left unclear. In just the next scene, however, we find her in a hospital – all dolled up – with many months wiped from her memory. Soon, she is taken to an isolated, luxurious Scottish villa by a man (Vardhaan Puri) claiming to be her husband.

Within the first ten minutes, Gor's Neha goes into a frenzied fit about why she can't feel love for this man (umm... because you have amnesia and don't remember anything about him?), casts suspicion on him, only to start trusting him immediately after spending the night with him. Okay, Mr. Bhatt, please stop churning out ridiculous ideas on how to gaslight women?

This is just the beginning of a very problematic storyline, filled with absurd dialogue and unhinged scenes. There is a sequence where a spirit possesses a ghost hunter, and her partner keeps filming, instead of helping her. We also see a husband trying to soothe his almost maniacal wife by suggesting they take the matter to the bedroom. To make matters worse, almost every character in the movie forcefully slips in English words within their conversations, seemingly to establish the movie as a modern-day tale, unlike Bhatt's precious work that's partial to the 1920s.

story 5 bloody ishq

Even mundane scenes in the movie appear to be sloppily edited

We see Neha entertaining an outright creepy woman who keeps making mysterious appearances in her house, instead of getting the security tightened. One can't help wondering if amnesia not just erased her memories, but common sense as well. Throughout the film's 140-minute runtime, you'll see her trusting every suspicious character she comes across.

The twisted version of the truth that she has accepted takes more turns than a merry-go-round every ten minutes. The only sane decision she makes is in the film's last scene.

story 4 bloody ishq

The film fails to deliver any genuine frights

In a hurry to establish the urgency and restlessness gripping the protagonist, Bhatt has compromised heavily with the tone, starting the film on a wrong note. What could have easily been slipped into the story later for a more natural flow, forms the thrust of the story from the beginning. Gor's daily soap-style performance doesn't help, either, with the film suffering from overacting.

Bhatt's direction fails to establish tension, making the scares predictable and ineffective. The CGI is laughable, with poorly rendered ghosts and possessed humans. Bloody Ishq is hard to recommend for a casual watch, and perhaps harder to suggest to fans of the horror genre. The only things scary about Bloody Ishq are its torturous pace, pathetic CGI, and overly dramatic performances that become nightmares in their own right. Avoid Bloody Ishq at all costs; your sanity will thank you.

Rating: 1/5

Bloody Ishq is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar

Bitcoin Price Hovers Under $67,000 on Global Exchanges, Altcoin Values Rise After Price Correction Period

Several cryptocurrencies saw their prices rise on the crypto price chart on Friday, including the world's most widely used digital assets — Bitcoin and Ether. Bitcoin price rose by 4.33 percent over the last 24 hours to trade at $66,945 (roughly Rs. 56 lakh) on international exchanges like CoinMarketCap. The value of BTC on Indian exchanges is still fluctuating in the aftermath of the WazirX hack. At the time of writing, Bitcoin was priced between the range of $53,785 (roughly Rs. 45 lakh) and $71,800 (roughly Rs. 60 lakh) on Indian exchanges.

“BTC has rebounded strongly from its weekly losses, driven by positive momentum and the kick-off of a Bitcoin conference yesterday. The asset is now consolidating within an ascending channel. This suggests that its upward trend remains intact, and investor profitability is currently positive,” Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus told Gadgets360.

Ether also rose by 2.08 percent during the same period. At the time of writing, ETH was trading at $3,247 (roughly Rs. 2.71 lakh) on international exchanges. In India, Ether's price varies within the range of $2,554 (roughly Rs. 2.12 lakh) and $3,540 (roughly Rs. 2.96 lakh).

“Substantial outflows from the Grayscale Ethereum Trust (ETHE) have caused ETH to trade lowly despite small gains. Investors are increasingly worried about regulatory scrutiny and unfavourable market conditions, leading to a noticeable shift in sentiment,” the CoinSwitch Markets Desk told Gadgets360.

Binance Coin, Solana, Ripple, Dogecoin, Cardano, and Avalanche increased in value.

Shiba Inu, Polkadot, Chainlink, and Litecoin prices rose alongside Bitcoin and Ether, but Qtum, Status, Circuits of Value, and Near Protocol prices fell on Friday.

“Bitcoin has traded sideways, while other altcoins are down significantly. Solana and its ecosystem tokens remain strong. Volatility is expected to remain high with today's PCE Price Index data announcement,” the CoinDCX markets team told Gadgets360. “China's surprise rate cut and the steepening of the US Treasury yield curve signalled panic,” Avinash Shekhar, Co-founder and CEO, Pi42 told Gadgets360.

The overall crypto market cap rose by 3.27 percent over the last 24 hours. With this, the crypto market cap has come to $2.39 trillion (roughly Rs. 2,00,099 crore).

Realme 13 Pro+ Camera AI Features Tested: Impressive

The Realme 13 Pro series is set to launch in India and globally on July 30. The lineup will include the Realme 13 Pro and the 13 Pro+. Realme has been teasing the phones on social media and has also given away some details. At an event in Thailand earlier this month, the company showcased the AI features on the Realme 13 Pro series that'll help enhance the camera.

We got to try out one of the phones ahead of launch and test out the AI camera features. Below, I'll be talking about the AI Eraser and the AI Ultra Clarity features specifically. I'll be sharing some before and after photos of the tools in action to see how well they perform. While I cannot give you more details about the phone, I can tell you that I used the Realme 13 Pro+ to test the AI features.

Realme 13 Pro+ Cameras

Before talking about the AI features, I'll talk briefly about the camera hardware. The Realme 13 Pro+ has a triple rear camera setup that's an upgrade in some ways over last year's 12 Pro+. The new phone has a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-701 primary rear camera with an f/1.88 and OIS. Another 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 sensor performs telephoto duties with 3x optical zoom support. Now, Realme says that this is a periscope camera, but I did not find any periscope contraption for the lens system. Finally, there's an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera as well.

I won't talk about the camera performance as such since that'll be available in our full review. However, I clicked a lot of pictures on the phone and tried out the AI Eraser and the AI Ultra Clarity tools. Realme has used the term ‘HyperImage+' for the camera system and stated that the AI features make the output better. Let's find out.

Realme 13 Pro+ AI Eraser Feature

The Realme 13 Pro+ comes with an AI Eraser feature that's common in most flagship phones these days. Google was one of the first to widely popularise it via their Pixel phones. I tested the feature on multiple photos, and I must say, the results were pretty good. More than the results, I loved the animation that happens when AI erases. You feel like Thanos evaporating life form in Avengers: Infinity War.

Anyway, the results are pretty good, like I said, the AI manages to remove most things in one go. Sometimes it does take 2-3 tries to get rid of objects and people. I tried the tool on people as well as plenty of other objects, such as vehicles, plants, and more. It worked flawlessly most of the time. However, you do need an active internet connection to use the feature. Check out some samples below.

AI Eraser feature on Realme 13 Pro+ [Tap to Expand]

Realme 13 Pro+ AI Ultra Clarity Feature

Next, the AI Ultra Clarity feature on the Realme 13 Pro+ is claimed to ‘enhance the resolution and increase the clarity' of blurry photos. Once again, I tried this feature on the phone with zoomed-in shots in 6x and 10x digital zoom and found it to be somewhat effective in improving clarity. See some examples below.

AI Ultra Clarity works most of the time. [Tap to Expand]

I found the AI Ultra Clarity feature to mostly remove all the noise from an image. However, when it comes to making a blurry image clearer, removing noise doesn't do a lot. Zoomed-in images of text were less readable after the AI did its work. In some instances, this did work well and produced a cleaner image, but most of the time, the difference wasn't massive.

The AI tag for the camera on the Realme 13 Pro+ is not simply there because ‘AI' is a buzzword in the industry right now. The features do work, and I found them to be just as impressive as something you'd find on Google's Magic Eraser or Samsung's Galaxy AI.
